What We Do
EGOM is a street ministry in Downtown Birmingham, Alabama where we cater to our precious friends experiencing homelessness. We strive to operate with the kindness of Jesus and to let them know God loves them! We do that through fellowship, giving away clothes, food, sneakers, toiletries, tents, backpacks, and many other items. We offer prayer/ministry and the only Hope there is, Jesus Christ.
Jeremiah 29:11 “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.”
Stationary Outreach
We set up our ministry tables in different locations in the downtown area on the third Sunday of every month. The EGOM team is lined up wholeheartedly ready to greet and serve our precious friends with a smile and a compassionate hand to help them gather some items to fill their bags. We give out men's and women's jeans, clothes, sneakers, purses, toiletry bags, underwear, bras, socks, backpacks, tents, blankets, Bibles, and much more! Of course, we always offer prayer by the leading of the Holy Spirit to open the doors for deeper ministry and fellowship. Sometimes the best thing we can do is just listen! We care about where they're at in life and what they need to talk about.
Blessing Drive Bys
Besides our regular Outreaches, we also do what I call Blessing Drive-Bys, where we operate out of the ministry van with men's and women's clothes toiletry bags, Gatorade/water, protein snacks, underwear, feminine hygiene products, medical supplies, backpacks, sneakers, tents, sleeping bags, blankets, and some other special gifts! We go under the bridges, through the tunnels, around the fences, down the alleys, on the street corners, in the parks—wherever we see a need— We stop. We bless. We pray! We have been freely given, and we freely give it all away, hoping that we can encourage somebody. We always offer prayer to point to the only source of true hope, Jesus Christ.
